Children’s Dentistry

Children's dentistry focuses on promoting healthy oral habits and preventing dental problems from infancy through adolescence. Early and regular dental care supports proper development of teeth, gums, and jaw, laying the foundation for a lifetime of good oral health.  Oral care starts even before the first tooth erupts—parents should gently wipe a baby’s gums with a damp cloth after feedings to remove bacteria. Once the first tooth appears (usually around 5 to 8 months), brushing should begin using a soft infant toothbrush and a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste. During toddler years, parents should supervise brushing twice daily, using an age-appropriate toothpaste amount while gradually helping kids learn to brush independently.
